Axians in Switzerland is expanding its portfolio for industrial digitalization and launching AX IoT Suite. The modular IoT platform connects machines, operational data and service processes to deliver greater transparency, data-driven services and secure digital business models.
Schlieren, 1 October 2026: Machine and plant manufacturers are currently facing a range of challenges. Customers increasingly expect transparent operational data, shorter service response times and flexible usage- or performance-based offerings. At the same time, requirements for cybersecurity and regulatory compliance are continuing to grow.
New business opportunities for machine manufacturers
With the new AX IoT Suite, Axians in Switzerland is launching a modular IoT platform that enables machine and plant manufacturers to systematically collect, analyse and leverage operational data from installed machines and systems for new service offerings. The solution combines machine connectivity, an edge gateway, data processing within the customer’s own Azure environment and role-based KPI dashboards into a seamless architecture, from the shop floor to the management level.
For machine and plant manufacturers, AX IoT Suite creates opportunities to manage service processes based on data, detect disruptions at an early stage and plan maintenance activities proactively. Remote monitoring, anomaly detection and standardized stop-reason analyses help improve service planning, reduce on-site interventions and fulfil service-level agreements more efficiently. At the same time, the collected operational data can serve as the foundation for new business models, such as spare parts forecasting, tiered feature enablement or performance-based contracts.
The solution is already being used by several leading Swiss providers of precision machinery.
Greater transparency and efficiency for machine operators
Manufacturing companies also benefit from greater transparency in day-to-day operations. Machine status data, production metrics and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) values can be visualized across locations in real time. Disruptions can be captured more systematically, maintenance windows can be planned more effectively and downtime can be reduced. Data remains within the customer’s own Azure environment and can be integrated into existing ERP, MES or BI systems through interfaces. Machine operators therefore retain full control over their information at all times and avoid dependency on proprietary platforms. In addition, there are no ongoing platform or licensing costs.
“More than ten years of experience in the digital transformation of industrial customers clearly shows that sustainable added value is created when efficiency, service quality and customer loyalty are considered together. With AX IoT Suite, we establish exactly this connection and enable our customers to generate direct business value from their data,” says Christoph Zingg, Chief Commercial Officer at Axians 1stQuad.
Ready for future security requirements
In addition to cost efficiency and transparency, cybersecurity also plays a key role. The technical architecture of AX IoT Suite is designed to meet current and future industrial cybersecurity requirements. These include security-by-design principles, role-based access control, tenant separation and signed over-the-air updates. The solution aligns with established industry standards such as ISA-95 as well as IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2.
In this way, Axians also supports machine and plant manufacturers in addressing regulatory developments such as the EU Machinery Regulation and the Cyber Resilience Act. Both increase the requirements for connected products, digital components and secure software throughout their entire lifecycle.
