Reha Rheinfelden, a foundation under private law, was founded in 1896 on a charitable basis and now employs around 450 people. They have been a customer of Axians GNS’ since 1998. The client operating system installed at 200 workstations was outdated and no longer supported by the manufacturer. In addition, new versions of applications had to be introduced and 30 new PCs installed.
Project requirements & goals
The foundation was looking to migrate all clients without interruption within two days using a highly efficient solution that would provide long-term investment protection.
Implementation & project outcome
Working alongside Reha Rheinfelden management, we opted for a software called Columbus by Brainware. This product has already proven itself to other customers with its integrated, comprehensive system life-cycle management. Columbus provides Reha with a consistent overview of their assets and organises their IT processes. Completing the transition within two days called for intensive, comprehensive planning and preparation followed by exhaustive tests by power users. This allowed obstacles to be identified and mitigated early on. Thanks to intensive preparatory work, the automatic installation on 200 PCs and 90 printers of varying models was completed within one weekend without a hitch. Michèle Nieswandt, IT Project Manager at Reha Rheinfelden is enthused: “IT like this is fun! Three clicks – and 45 minutes later I had a freshly installed, fully configured workstation.”
